The U.S. Senate Banking Committee has voted to advance Paul Atkins, President Donald Trump's nominee for the chair of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), with a 13-11 vote. The nomination will now proceed to a full Senate vote, the timing of which has not yet been scheduled. Atkins, a former SEC commissioner from 2002 to 2008 and a known pro-crypto advocate, received no support from Democrats on the committee, reflecting a party-line division.
