Fidelity Investments has expanded investors’ access to the digital asset market by launching a new retirement plan that allows direct investment in cryptocurrencies. The brokerage now offers Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and Litecoin (LTC) as investment options for U.S. residents over the age of 18. These assets will be held by Fidelity and stored securely in a cold storage facility. According to the company’s website, the crypto IRA product charges no fees and supports investments through Roth IRAs, traditional IRAs, and rollover IRAs. This latest move reflects a growing trend among financial advisors to incorporate crypto into the products they offer. A recent TMX Vetta Fi survey found that 57% of financial advisors plan to increase their allocations to crypto exchange-traded funds (ETFs), particularly crypto stock ETFs. Fidelity has already launched several crypto ETFs that allow investors to track digital asset prices without direct exposure.
